主语conception,谓语was，分号连接两个句子，第二个句子主语是it，谓语is…。
比较选项差异发现，句子结构有很大的差异，导致语义也有很大的差异。所以先从句子结构的差异引起语义的差异，包括语义层次的差异进行讨论。
原文主干是conception was as…; it is the opposite.B选项是Marconi conceived of.., but which..可以看出平行有错误。所以B可以确定排除。
C选项是marconi conceived of; it has become the opposite. 结构上和语义上都没有错误。
D是marconi conceived of,原文分号后面的部分在这里变成了which定语从句，结构上修饰telephone，但是原文这里语义上指的是radio。 所以D选项结构上有问题，排除。
E Marconi conceived of, 原文分号后的部分在这里变成了other than what…., other than强调前部分，而这里原文明显强调后部分，所以E与原文语义出入太大，排除。
最后剩下AC选项，这里就要想到我上课讲过的，谓语为be动词容易出现定义上的错误。原文说conception was as a substitute…这里就会出现定义错误，逻辑上概念是不能被定义为telephone的代替物的。

看到it既可以指telephone也可以指radio直接把带it的全排了，然后发现剩下来的好像也不对

前面句子结构说的很多了，我个人观点从语义角度来看，radio最后真正成为的东西应该和Marconi的设想相反，应此Marconi对于radio的设想应该首先是a tool for private conversation，然后再加上一个同位语解释这个tool,因此首先排除ABE。

A 安本身句子结构来看，it指代conception 但是逻辑上来说影带是指代radio 所以不行 B 这里的which指代成了conversation 逻辑不正确 C （1）that could substitute for the tele是用来修饰 radio的（跳跃修饰） （2）而且后面转折部分明显是“a tool for xxx”是重点，所以前面的重点也应该是a tool for private conversation，而不能不这个部分当作是一个同位语做修饰 D （1）固定搭配 conceived of sth as sth （2）which指代错误，这里指代telephone 但是实际上应该是指代radio E （1）同D 固定搭配错了 （2）other than词性为adv，不可以连接句子。

a, be动词is做平行谓语 conception is a substitute，是错误的，应该是 radio is a substitute b，but要连接两个完整句子，but后面 which is 是从句 d，没有表现出转折 e，不清楚，谁能解释下吗？ 单纯觉得 other than 不对

可以先看后面的句子在强调什么 ， a tool 怎么，然后又是对比， 所以第一句应该也要说 a tool 个人见解

曼哈顿解释了一种跳跃修饰的情况，就是当主语修饰语很长而谓语修饰语或宾语较短时，为了避免将这部分放在后面产生的歧义，先把该说的说完，然后再接修饰语。我觉得这个情况跟那种情况类似，for private conversation较短，而that从句较长，但其实that是跳跃修饰tool

a tool for private conversation应该是修饰radio，表示M的构思；但radio恰好成了相反的 对大众的工具，即 a tool for communication A中a tool for private conversation是修饰telephone的，不符合原文本身的逻辑
