主干是the Department reported that ...., but that while businesses were expanding their production, unsold goods piled up ...as consumer spending is slowed sharply.逻辑为企业正在扩大生产，随着消费者支出大幅放缓的同时，未售出的商品堆积如山。但A项的piled up不能作谓语，while后面用法错误，as相当于when，后面is slowed时态错误，前面都是过去式，这里来一个现在时。
B项正确，while businesses were expanding,unsold goods were piling up AS ...，while用法正确，表示与此同时
C项没有过去的过去，后面with接的是一个名词，逻辑错：未售出的商品堆积如山，带有一个顾客消费的缓慢？
D项逻辑变成了企业正在扩大生产的同时，伴随着堆积如山的未售出的商品消费者支出正在放缓，主次重心改变，时态也有问题。
E项时态错同D，消费者支出已经放缓？逻辑错

我觉得这个题主要是考时态...unsold goods 的动作是跟businesses were expanding productivity 同时发生的，一直扩张产量，所以一直堆积，然后堆积是因为消费者需求骤然减慢的这个动作发生了 所以slow不及物动词 过去式 表示已经发生了 与此同时 businesses在expanding，货物在堆积如山。。。独立主格表达的因果关系不如as强烈。 unsold goods were piling up on store shelves as consumer spending slowed sharply

错选a项 考点：句子结构中的时态一致，修饰中的with独立主格。 根据原文语意：尽管企业加大生产，随着消费者的支出下滑，未售出的商品堆积如山 a项；首先商品不能自己pile up，其次后面时态与主语加大生产用的过去进行时的时态不一致，排除 c项：用的是过去完成时，而企业生产用的是过去进行时，意思是滞销先发生，企业后生产。如果滞销的话，企业不会再扩大生产，所以逻辑有错，排除。 e项：has slowed现在完成时，时态错误 d项：dustin说，with+n. 或者with+n.+分词想表达的没有确切的逻辑关系，只是有关联而已，所以逻辑表达很模糊不清 注意：with独立主格结构并不表示伴随，只是代表与前面句子有关联，但具体的逻辑关系并不清楚 故选择b项

as表因果，换成with少了因果关系，good不能自己piled up，少了被动be动词。如果piled up可以做动词，则A前后时态不一致

piled up明明可以做谓语啊，怎么就必须是分词呢？A选项之所以错主要是因为is slowed shrply这个被动和is这个现在时的时态

老师讲的是货物只能被piled up，如果是被动少了be动词，如果是谓语逻辑有问题，货物不能把自己piled up

这题D错误的原因除了改变语意，还有逗号后面的独立主格使用错误，独立主格的结构应该是名词+名词修饰（见曼哈顿语法），如果是D选项名词是the piling （up），修饰是of unsold goods on Store shelves，名词这里首先就有问题，up不属于名词，应该做修饰；其次主干不就是piling（堆积）了吗，翻译过来就是堆积怎样怎样，no sense

D时态倒没问题，E的独立主格修改了，但是错在语意还有时态上，如果这题B选项有明显错误而E选项把has slowed改成was slowing，那就是选E了

语义判断 as表原因 明显比独立主格 表伴随 更合适 再来 while+doing, doing平行 while S1 V1 O1, S2 V2 O2 (as作状语修饰V2)选出B

根据逻辑，产品堆积，因为客户消费下降。 as是因为的意思。所以直接排除CDE。with是伴随，改变句意，省略了因果关系。 A 没有动词，piled up是分词，is slowed 不符合句意，全句都是过去式 所以选择B C had piled 过去完成时没理由

这道题其实考的是时态，while说明应该是同时发生而不是先后，由此可以排除ACE，BD对比，怎么选呢，对比一下A的句意，会发现D改变了原句的意思，而B保留，所以选B
